Childhoods End

I saw my little brother graduate from high school recently. It was a sobering experience, to say the least. Here was a kid that I saw grow up before my eyes. I played with him, fought with him, and watched him grow from a scrawny little runt to an athletic young man. It's cliché, I know, but it's reality. Here's my "little" brother standing two inches taller than me and growing more facial hair than me.

But I guess all things come to an end. My brother isn't a kid anymore; he's a man, and he's going off to find himself in the world. Here's to you, Dan. You made it through stage one. Now welcome to the real world.

POP!

I'll be honest, I haven't written this fine column in a while. I always seem to fall off the map for a while and then come back with five or six columns. It's been tough for me with the way the year has gone, but I try. So, with the fact that I have not written the column in a while, I've been spending a lot of time working and with my girlfriend and other pals. Keeping that in mind, I've had the chance to indulge myself in some wonderful entertainment as of late. First off, Fahrenheit 9/11, the film by Michael Moore was a real kick in the pants. Sure, some things were exaggerated and taken out of context but the majority of the film was honest, to the point, and surprisingly heart felt. I also recently had the chance to read `Orbiter', a graphic novel by the amazing Warren Ellis and Colleen Doran. Think of it as a space mystery, meets the X-Files, with a crapload of theoretical hard science thrown in. Simply amazing.

Also, if you haven't listened to Franz Ferdinand, the Rapture, or Jurassic 5, then you're missing out on some good tunes. But I have to say that the single most entertaining event of the past few weeks was Spider-Man 2. we all know I'm a comic book fan and this movie delivered by leaps and bounds, Sure there were some annoying parts( i.e. Spidey not keeping his mask on, Mary Jane's "acting") but it was a slam-bang movie that was just fun to watch.

Anyhow, I'm on the go today. I've gotta go purchase a new computer and new tires for my car and maybe spend some time with my Dad. Okay, so that's it for this week folks. I'll be back next week . . . I promise.
