"Scarred and smiling, dying slow, I scream to no-one left at all: 'I told you so, I told you so, I TOLD YOU SO!!!" - New Model Army, "I Love The World" America have toppled Sadaam Hussein's rule. Where do they move next? Because I'm pretty damned sure they're not simply going to pack up and go home. If there's one thing I've learned from America in the last few years it is this: Never trust them. The phrase "Beware Greeks bearing gifts" can be easily changed to: "Beware Americans, full stop." This is not merely belated anti-war anger coming to the fore. Look back through America's history, and we find war after war, cover-up after cover-up, lie after fucking lie, and there seem to be very few exceptions to this. Even the founding fathers were not the wonderful idealists everyone believes them to be. So let's take a little trip back, starting recently, with September 11 and the unjustified bombing of innocent civilians in Afghanistan. I'm sure we'll all never forget the September 11th attacks - they've been force fed to the whole fucking world as an excuse to commit atrocities and incorporate police-state mentality into the population of the "civilised" world (and as a side note, what the fuck is so civilised about killing or enslaving anyone who doesn't conform to your beliefs, or subverting ancient customs so that foreign populations are more ready to accept your way of life?). The US government knew damned well that these attacks were going to take place (my personal opinion is that the government actually orchestrated the attacks to some extent), and yet they did nothing to prevent them. They did nothing to warn the thousands of people who lost their lives that day. Why? Why did they not tell anyone? Because if nobody gets killed the idiot public will not hastily agree to mass killings against other nations. September 11 led to the so-called "war" on terrorism, during which more innocent Afghan civilians lost their lives than there were victims in the WTC collapse. Under the guise of "hunting out" Osama bin Laden (who was demonised almost to the same extent as Hussein and Milosevic, even though he had past dealings with the US Government, CIA and Bush Family), america systematically BOMBED THE LIVING SHIT out of a porrly equipped, largely innocent populace. The US Hawks will claim "There is always collateral damage which is unavoidable" or some such nonsense. Yes, I'm sure it is unavoidable if you're clusterbombing populated areas. America had lots of new weapons they wanted to try out in Afghanistan, but the terrain wasn't right for all of them, so they quickly finished up there and moved on to Iraq (more oil, no mountains, and a good dictator to demonise and get the populace to hate). So you see how one thing leads to another. (Incidentally, isn't it odd how a rigged election farce ended up with bush in power, just in time for the Sep. 11 attacks to take place. My how convenient) Moving back further now to World War 2 (I'm skipping past JFK, Johnsson, MLK and the Cuban Missile crisis, because each of these subjects would require a column in their own right) and Pearl Harbour. Once again, we have a situation where many people lost their lives (although these were military men mainly, not civilians), due to lack of warning from the American government, who once again knew damned well what was going to happen. Years agao, I had a history exam looking at Pearl Harbour. It was an unseen paper, and we had various sources for reference. This was long before the view that the US Gov. knew that the attack would take place was generally accepted. Yet it was so damned obvious they knew all along what was happening. Why did they let it happen? Because it was an excuse to enter the War against japan, and test out some new military hardware. It was once said by a US military officer "To us, There are no civilians in japan." Tokyo was extensively firebombed - the city's guts were burned out, producing fires so hot that many people were simply vapourised. Soon afterwards, Japan was ready to surrender. But America was having none of it. Surrender? What? before we have a chance to try out our best new toy? the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were carried out AFTER Japan had requested a surrender. The Americans didn't care. Then, as now, the Americans didn't give a shit about anything but their own empire (let's not mince words here. Anyone who thinks America is a Democracy are wrong. America is a republic, constantly striving to extend its borders - It aleady has conquered Britain). Once again, we have an example of one thing leading to another, but always at the cost of human life. Every military conflict the Americans have been involved it, it has only been for their own advantage. Most of these conflicts, they will try to cover up the true reason with idealistic suggestions like "liberation" (witness the soldier placing the AMERICAN flag over the face of the statue of Saddaam Hussein before it was toppled. "Yeah! It's the UNITED STATES OF IRAQ now, Motherfuckers!"). Tell me, is America destroying all to bring "liberty" to the "enslaved" any different to the Christians destroying all to bring "God" to the "Godless"? Nothing has changed since the dark days of the crusades, and it looks like it never will. So where does America go from here? Someone once said to me: "Bin Laden won't stop killing until the whole world is Muslim". Perhaps, but Bush and the rest sure as hell won't stop until the whole world is American. So the conflict will perhaps move on to North Korea. Nuclear arms will start punching. China will probably get involved. Before too long, there won't be a world left worth fighting over. People ask me if I support the war. I say to them that I want EVERYONE involved on both sides to get annihilated. The less fucking arseholes willing to kill other people, the better the world would be for people with half a fucking brain. It just makes me sick that the most powerful nation on earth is also the most bloodthirsty.
